Remodeled Floors

A couple weekends ago we had our grimy carpets and old vinyl flooring removed from our three bedrooms and the kitchen. In their place we stained the concrete slab underneath, a trendy practice here in Austin. The results: FABULOUS! Now, despite some chilly moments rolling out of bed onto concrete, we have new floors befitting our southwestern locale.

Old carpet in guest bedroom. Yuck! New guest bedroom with stained floor.

Hi guys. I had to post (I can’t believe I’m posting a message on your blog. I feel so 2006) to say:
    1) The new floors look fabulous. I’m in love with the color.
    2) What’s up with the pulls on your kitchen cabinet doors being placed in the middle of the doors? Does that drive you nuts? Because honestly, just looking at it is driving me a little nuts. I’ve never seen that before.
    3) Francisco, thanks for letting Ella come to NYC with me because now I can see how big of a project she left you to deal with alone.
    Love, Jen HG

    1) Thanks! One of the surprise benefits of our new floors is how the cold concrete jolts you awake when rolling out of bed.

    2) You know, I can honestly say we have never noticed this. Now, I can’t seem to get it out of my head. I would go on a pull-pulling spree this weekend if we didn’t have an Ultimate tournament in Tulsa to attend. You are welcome to visit us anytime and properly re-orient our cabinet pulls.

    3) I am glad you and Ella went together so Ella would not have to walk the mean streets of NY on her own. I am also glad Ella missed our extreme makeover because the house was a complete disaster during the staining process. She did return in time to experience the mind-altering fumes that remained for the better part of 2 weeks. We stayed at a friend’s house until the house regained its original homey scent.

Thanks for commenting! Greetings to Zak and Isabel!
